    To Whom it May Concern,
I am currently in the process of reaching out to young science and technology entrepreneurs in the Vietnam and given your institution’s work with young business owners, students, technology innovation, and entrepreneurial development, I could think of no better organization to reach out to in order to promote this opportunity to your networks of entrepreneurs! We worked with your institution last year and given the amazing success of Tech-I 2014 we would love to work with you again this year. Last year, Tech-I 2014 received over 2,000 applications, 405,000 global public votes, and of our 30 finalists over half of them are now funded due to the exposure and promotion brought about from involvement with the competition. This is a truly amazing opportunity and this year we are looking to significantly increase the number of applications from Vietnam!
First let me introduce myself, I am Jennifer Roderick and I am a Project Manager here at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in Washington DC, USA. I am currently the Project Manager for a Global Entrepreneurship competition ran in conjunction with the US Department of State. This competition is the flagship program of the Global Innovation through Science and Technology (GIST) Initiative.
The competition, Tech-I, is focused on young scientists, innovators, and entrepreneurs, aged between 18-40 years old, who have either an idea or startup in the subject areas of agriculture, energy, health or information and communication technologies.
The application is simple, requiring the submission of an executive summary of 750 words and a 90 second promotional video. This year 86 countries are eligible to apply and following an initial expert panel review applications then go to the public vote. The top 30 finalists will then win an all-inclusive paid trip to sub-Saharan Africa in July to participate in the Finals at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit. At the finals, applicants will have the opportunity to win up to $15,000 USD in individual funding, up to $70,000 USD in total prize money, a year membership to AAAS, and every finalist will also receive up to 3 months one-on-one mentorship with top experts in their field or subject of interest.
This is an exceptionally exciting competition and here at AAAS we are extremely excited to ensure that all who are eligible to apply have the opportunity to do so.
Application deadline is March 20, 2015.
For more information regarding the competition, please feel free to visit www.gistnetwork.org/tech-i or contact myself and I will be happy to pass on more information.
For access to promotional materials related to the competition including all documents in Arabic, English, French, Spanish, and Russian, please visit https://www.gistnetwork.org/tech-i/m...ndtranslations . I have also attached a promotional email for distribution to the bottom of this email for ease.
Thank you so much for your time and please feel free to get in touch if you wish to be involved in this project, either through participation or promotion. We are also looking for regional leaders and experts, so if you would like to be involved in a more robust capacity, please feel free to get in touch and we would love to hear from you.
    Thank you so much again,
    Jenni
