After a long and difficult negotiation with Canadian partners, the Office of External Relations at UIT has achieved the first glorious achievement which is persuading the University of Regina (UoR) to sign the MOU with UIT successfully.
This MOU signing is the most challengingly compulsory requirement for UIT students to have a chance with SEED scholarship.
As this is the first victory for UIT students; however, there is some obstacles facing ahead for UIT students and UIT staff. In order to apply for SEED, the Canadian partner, which is University of Regina, has to be the one that files the SEED application (not UIT nor UIT students). And the University of Regina’s deadline for this scholarship program was February 29, 2024.
The Office of External Relations has been working hard to persuade University of Regina to have an exception for UIT’s students by extending the deadline for UIT’s students.
Luckily, University of Regina has announced today that, in honour of the new partnership between UIT and UoR, it will accept UIT’s request for the submission extension.
However, University of Regina requires a very tight deadline for UIT to submit the nomination today.
Therefore, we would like to announce that the deadline for UIT’s students to submit the application form to the Office of External Relations (A.125) is this afternoon 3:00 PM.
Please submit your application in both hard copy and PDF format
    Our hotline: 0938 965 840 (Ms. Linh)
Below are the required documents that UIT’s students must submit to the Office of External Relations (from now until the deadline, the Office will open through the lunch time to support the students):

Should your students wish to apply for the Canada-ASEAN Scholarship and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED) scholarship the institution must submit the following documents as stated on the website.
    • Proof of citizenship
      • A copy of the candidate's passport or national identity card with a photo and valid dates
      • Documents not accepted as proof of citizenship are: driver’s license, permanent residence card, work permit, student card, health card, birth certificate or baptismal certificate
      • Proof of citizenship selected must be from the same country/territory as the citizenship selected in the online application form
    • Letter of intent from the candidate (maximum one page)
      • Explains the nature of studies or research to be undertaken
      • Provides rationale for study in Canada and for the choice of institution, program and supervisor and how the proposed program of study or research will relate to their future career
      • Explains how undertaking study or research in Canada will empower the student to apply their learning to address the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
      • Explains how they intend to use their learning to help combat poverty and narrow the development gap in the ASEAN region in their future career
      • Identifies the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) their proposed study or research in Canada is aligned with and will contribute to
      • Candidates from Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand or Vietnam must provide an explanation of how their learning in Canada will help to combat poverty in their home country
      • Candidates from Brunei or Singapore must provide an explanation of how their learning in Canada will help combat poverty in one of the other eight ASEAN countries
    • Letter of proof of full-time enrolment from the home institution
      • On official letterhead
      • Dated within the last six months
      • Confirms that the candidate is currently enrolled in a full-time program
      • Copies of transcripts, a student card or a letter of admission are not acceptable
      • Students can go to Office of Academic Affairs (A.120) (Phòng Đào tạo Đại học) to obtain this form. This form must be signed and stamped by UIT.
    • Letter of support from the home institution (maximum one page)
      • On official letterhead
      • Dated within the last six months
      • From the candidate's instructor, professor or international director
      • Explains the nature of study or research to be undertaken in Canada and how the candidate and the home institution will benefit from this scholarship program
      • Assesses the candidate’s commitment and capacity to use the program of study or research in Canada to help combat poverty and narrow the development gap in the ASEAN region
    • Proof of English Language Proficiency:
      • TOEFL: Internet based (83); Reading (20); Listening (20); Writing (20).
      • IELTS: Overall Band score 6.5, with no band less than 6.0
    • Letter of invitation from the Canadian supervisor (graduate students only, maximum one page)
      • On official letterhead
      • Dated within the last six months
      • Signed by the Canadian supervisor
      • Describes the nature and scope of the research collaboration with the student’s home institution
      • Confirms their willingness to support and mentor the candidate during the exchange period
      • Explains how the Canadian institution, supervisor and peers will benefit from the exchange
For Graduate researchers a letter of invitation from the Canadian host supervisor is required. It is the students responsibility to reach out to a faculty member at the University of Regina to request them to host the researcher during their stay.

    If they are undergraduate researchers, they must identify a host supervisor willing to host and supervise them during their research and provide the following information;
    - confirmation of the name of the faculty member that has agreed to host them.
    - dates of the proposed research.
    - name and brief explanation of the research they plan to participate in.

Attached are the 2024-2025 Application Guide and UoR Fact Sheet – 2024 – 2025.
(Noted that the Fact Sheet 2024 – 2025 are for general Student Exchange, not for SEED, therefore, the deadline inside UoR Fact Sheet is NOT applicable to this SEED nomination.)
